Railway police holds review meeting in Haridwar ahead of Kanwar yatra
Haridwar, July 8 -- In preparation for the upcoming Kanwar yatra, an interstate coordination meeting was held at the Government Railway Police (GRP) headquarters in Haridwar on Monday to ensure effective crowd management, security, and safety during the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting was chaired by superintendent of police (GRP) Tripti Bhatt and attended by officials from the Northern Railway's Railway Protection Force (RPF), as well as GRP personnel from Moradabad, Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), and Uttarakhand. The discussions focused on streamlining coordination among states and strengthening railway security measures during the fair.
To facilitate efficient monitoring, the railway network falling within the Kanwar Mela zone has been divided into two super zones, three zones, and six sectors, Bhatt said. "With a significant influx of kanwariyas expected, ensuring security is of utmost importance," she said.
Kanwar yatra will be begin on July 13 and continue till June 24.
