PATNA, May 15 -- Cloud of uncertainty prevails over leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi's interaction with inmates of Ambedkar Chatrawas in Darbhanga on Thursday, as the district authorities denied the permission for it on Wednesday evening. District magistrate, Darbhanga, Rajiv Raushan, told HT that he denied the permission for Rahul Gandhi's event as Ambdekar Kalyan Chatrawas at Mogalpura for want of approval from the authority of the premises (district welfare officer). Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to interact with inmates of the welfare hostel and other youths hailing from the deprived sections to kick start the party's ambitious event, Shiksha Nyay samvad, from Darbhanga on Thursday. More than 60 national level leaders of the party are also slated to conduct the similar programmes in different parts of the state. Congress legislature party (CLP) leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said that Rahul Gandhi would go to Darbhanga as per schedule and address the students belonging to dalit, backward classes and underprivileged sections. "The state government can not deny the permission for an event to be attended by the leader of the opposition. The state government is actiDng at the behest of BJP-led government at the Centre, after it got scared of growing popularity of the Congress leader among youths of scheduled castes, backward classes and the extremely backward classes. This is undemocratic," said Khan. Some of the senior Congress leaders were stunned to note that the district welfare officer (DWO) had rejected permission for the event. "How can he deny the permission even as the district magistrate had approved it earlier? There must be some design from the Nitish Kumar-led government. The DWO has been made a scapegoat," said the leader. As per the existing itinerary of the leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi is set to arrive at Darbhanga airport at around 11 and from there he would go to Ambdekar welfare hostel by road and interact with the students. He would reach Patna and watch a film in a theatre with workers and leaders of various social organisations before leaving for Delhi....
