Purvanchal Exp passengers robbed in Bihar
PATNA, July 1 -- Unidentified miscreants carried out a robbery on Howrah-Gorakhpur Purvanchal Express (15047 UP) near Dholi railway station in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said on Monday. The incident occurred around midnight.
The incident took place in the general compartments of the train. The miscreants terrorised passengers and robbed mobile phones, cash when the train was stopped near Dholi station between Samastipur-Muzaffarpur rail sections. The robbery took place around 3.25am and lasted 30 minutes. Over six miscreants pulled the alarm chain and committed the robbery on knifepoint. Before the passengers could come together to resist them, they jumped off from the train and escaped taking advantage of the darkness.

Some passengers later complained through Rail Madad and also informed the Police Headquarters about the incident. Muzaffarpur rail SP Veena Kumari formed a special team to investigate the case. She issued a show cause notice to SHO Ranjit Kumar and sought explanation on allegations of misbehaviour with the victim passengers. Passengers said no security staff came for 25 minutes while the robbers were on the train, and their written complaints were not accepted at the police station. "Prima facie, it appears the theft was committed by a new gang. The culprits will be apprehended soon," she added.
Earlier on June 27, thieves targeted at least five coaches of the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Duronto Express (12282) stealing valuables worth several lakhs belonging to 10 to 12 passengers. The incident took place under cover of darkness between Paraiya and Kastha stations near Gaya Junction....
