Public representatives involved in trafficking rackets in Bihar: DGP
PATNA, July 31 -- Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar on Wednesday said that there are growing instances of the involvement of public representatives and 'distinguished' persons in heinous crimes like human trafficking, sexual exploitation of minors and substance abuse. He added that the police are after them and would not spare anyone.
"In both the incidents at Ara and Nawada, the involvement of public representatives has come to light and the police also acted in both the cases. The society should also speak up against such elements," he said, while speaking at a function of state level human trafficking and transgenders organised by the CID (Weaker section) on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The DGP said human trafficking or drug peddling was the worst of all kinds of crimes and not easy to control due to involvement of 'politicians'. "Drug peddlers are moving around in Fortuner. In one case when I delved deep, it surfaced that a drug peddler has got land registered at 50 places. I am getting a list of such anti-social prepared and they would be hounded to face the law. They should not be hero worshipped," he added.
DGP in an oblique reference cited the examples of former minister and RJD legislator from Nawada Raj Ballabh Yadav, who was awarded life sentence and fined of Rs.50,000 for raping a minor girl at his residence in Bihar Sharif in Feb 2016. He continues to be in jail....
