BHAGALPUR, May 6 -- All shops and business establishments remained closed on Monday in protest against the killing of businessman Vinay Kumar Gupta, 38, shot dead in his shop at Naugachhia late Sunday evening. The deceased was a big grocery shopkeeper and quite popular. Quoting eyewitnesses, police said two assailants escaped after shooting him in the shop, which resulted in his instant death. The incident took place around 9.30pm when Gupta was winding up the shop. CCTV footage obtained by the police clearly shows that a man carrying a pistol entered the shop and shot the shopkeeper and escaped with another man standing in the street. "Both the criminals might have escaped on a bike," police said. Naugachhia SP Prerna Kumar said, "On the basis of the CCTV footage, police are trying to identify the assailants." She said the culprits would be arrested soon....
