GAYA JI/SASARAM, Oct. 22 -- Armed assailants shot dead a property dealer named Vinod Mahto at Tarwan village under Wazirganj police station of Gaya Ji district. Police said Mahto was sitting outside his house when the assailants shot him and sped off. Family members took the injured Mahto to a local government hospital where doctors declared him dead. Wazirganj SDPO Sunil Kumar Pandey reached the place with police force and FSL team and started investigation. A murder case was registered against unidentified accused and SSP Anand Kumar formed an SIT under the SDPO. Police later arrested two accused in the case, identified as villagers Guddu Mistri and Mithilesh Chaudhary. Preliminary investigation suggested an old enmity was behind the murder, the SSP said. In another incident, a jeweller and his son were shot at and critically injured while they were doing Diwali worship in their shop in Fazalganj market at Sasaram in the wee hours of Tuesday. The duo identified as Ashok Soni and his 12-yr-old son Rajveer Soni, residents of Mubarakganj locality in the town, were praying inside the shop with other family members when about 3.30am, three assailants on a bike arrived. They started spraying bullets on the jeweller, who tried to down the shutters, but was hit in the chest and fell down. His son also sustained bullet injury, police said. Nearby shopkeepers downed shutters and informed police but the attackers fled on the bike. Police reached the spot and took the injured to sadar hospital where doctors referred them to Varanasi. Town police and an FSL team examined the place of occurrence and recovered four fired cells. They examined the TV footage at and around the shop and found that the assailants had taken shelter in some house in the market as they were not seen escaping on the main road....
