Probe begins against policemen in NMCH doctor assault case
PATNA, Dec. 9 -- Senior police officials on Monday directed the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) to investigate an alleged assault case in which some policemen reportedly grabbed and beat a doctor from Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Dr. BN Chaturvedi, and his driver over a trivial issue at the JP Ganga Path-Digha Chowk check post under Digha police station limits on Sunday night.
SDPO (Law and Order) M. Ansari said two FIRs have been lodged at Digha police station in connection with the scuffle between the police and the doctor. "Both parties have filed complaints, and we have started an investigation to ascertain the facts," he said.

When the doctor's driver asked the truck driver to reverse, the policemen allegedly became angry and assaulted him. When the doctor intervened, he was also beaten.
The driver sustained a bleeding nose, while the doctor also received injuries. Later, Dr. Chaturvedi went to Digha police station and lodged a complaint against the policemen involved....
