PATNA, July 8 -- Even as police remain clueless in the murder of prominent businessman Gopal Khemka, another shocking incident rocked the city late Sunday night when unidentified assailants shot dead a private school owner near DAV School under Khagaul police station limits. The victim, identified as Ajit Kumar (50), was a resident of Mustafapur in Danapur. Police said the incident occurred when he was returning home on his scooty after delivering dinner to his father, Naresh Chandra Prasad, at Saugna More. "As he reached near DAV School, the assailants ambushed him and shot him at close range. He died on the spot," said an officer. Earlier, a police patrol team discovered his body lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. On Monday, his body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem. City Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhanu Pratap Singh said an investigation has been launched. "The motive behind the murder is still unclear. CCTV footage from the area is being scanned for clues, and a forensic team has begun collecting evidence from the crime scene," he said....
