Pratyaya Amrit to be new chief secy of poll-bound Bihar
PATNA, Aug. 5 -- Ahead of the assembly election, senior Bihar IAS officer Pratyaya Amrit will take over as the Chief Secretary of Bihar from September 1. The General Administrative Officer (GAO) issued a notification to this effect on Monday.
The present chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena superannuates on August 31. In view of his retirement, a new Chief Secretary was to be appointed. But the state government started a new tradition. Usually, a day or two before the retirement of the Chief Secretary or any other officer, another officer is appointed to that post. But this time the government has announced the appointment of a new Chief Secretary 27 days before the retirement of Amrit Lal Meena.
The state government on Monday evening issued a notification regarding the appointment of the Chief Secretary. The notification, issued by additional chief secretary of General Administration Department, B Rajendra, says, "1991 batch officer Pratyaya Amrit, currently posted as Development Commissioner, Bihar (additional chief secretary, health department and additional chief secretary disaster management), is appointed to the post of Chief Secretary, Bihar with effect from September 1 2025 as a result of the retirement of Amrit Lal Meena, IAS (1989), Chief Secretary, Bihar on August 31, 2025. The government has said in its notification, "Pratyaya Amrit is given additional charge of the post of OSD in the Chief Secretary's Office till he takes over the charge of the post of Bihar Chief Secretary on September 1, 2025.
