PATNA, Nov. 22 -- With the allotment of portfolios to newly-appointed ministers in the new NDA government led by chief minister Nitish Kumar, the focus in the state secretariat is all set to get intensified from next week with the departmental heads set to be tasked to complete all ongoing projects and schemes in next few months before the closure of fiscal year in March. Sources in the government said that most of the key departments like road construction, education, health, land revenue and agriculture have already started preparing reports on the status of their ongoing projects and schemes so that the new ministers of the respective departments could be given a status report. "There will be meetings with the new minister and then the new course of action of the department will be finalised. Of course, in the last two months , the routine works have continued. But now after the formation of the government, we will focus on fast implementation of the ongoing works in the departments. Land survey is a priority for us along with other new initiatives for updating the land records," said a senior officer in the revenue and land reforms department. Deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has been given the charge of revenue and land reforms along with mines and geology department, Again, officials in the agriculture department, which is going to be headed by newly appointed minister Ram Kripal Yadav, is already gearing up to implement new policies including honey policy, export policy for horticulture crops as well as accelerate the distribution of seeds for the rabi crop like seeds for oilseeds, pulses and wheat. "The ongoing schemes were running . But now with the government formation, we will have meetings with the new minister and several new policies will be rolled out in the next few weeks. There will also be focus on the upcoming rabi crop season and distribution of seeds would be accelerated. The seeds for pulses and oilseeds is nearing completion while seeds for wheat crop would be accelerated more," said a senior official in the agriculture department. He added that there would be a series of review meetings with senior departmental officials once the new minister takes charge. Similarly, road construction department and health department to be headed by Nitin Nabin and Mangal Pandey too would be witnessing heightened focus with officials stating that several ongoing projects would be given momentum for completion as per the deadline.The NDA has focussed on accelerating the infrastructure projects and also tone up health sector during its campaign in the recently concluded election. Projects of bridges, highways and national high way projects are set to be accelerated in the next few months for completion within the deadline. " In last two months, routine works were done in most of the departments owing to the elections. Now, with the winter setting in, it is obvious earth works would be given momentum including roads projects, bridges and other construction related works in the next three to four months," said a government official. Officials also said there would be also focus on utilisation of funds by various departments in next few months as there is only few months left before the closure of the fiscal year in March 2026. "There is already focus on fund utilisation and departments would be asked to speed up the works for higher fund spending in ongoing development projects before the end of the fiscal year in March," said another government official....
