Poll personnel to get training from Sept 28
PATNA, Sept. 24 -- Training of over 5.5 lakh polling personnel will begin across all districts of Bihar from September 28, following the near completion of training for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), officials of the state election department said.
This time, deployment at the 9,000-plus polling booths will be higher, as the number of polling stations has increased. One polling personnel will be exclusively assigned to collect mobile phones from electors before they enter the booths.
As per the new guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), voters carrying mobile phones will not be allowed inside polling stations and must deposit them outside with designated staff. Special bags for storing mobiles will be provided at every booth.
Sources said women polling personnel will also be deployed in large numbers, particularly at booths with a high concentration of women voters and minority communities. "In total, five to six polling personnel will be deputed at each booth this time, with around 5.5 to 6 lakh officials engaged in poll duties. Districts have already begun training master trainers," an election department official said.
