Policemen held for extortion in drunken stupor
BETTIAH, Oct. 20 -- Bettiah police in Bihar arrested three policemen on the charge of extorting money as gratification from the night commuters in inebriated condition during the ongoing festive season in the hub of Bettiah town in West Champaran, police said on Sunday.
Confirming this, Dr Shaurya Suman, superintendent of police (SP), Bettiah said the arrested policemen were the part of Panther police attached with town police station in Bettiah, headquarters of West Champaran, who were caught extorting money from the late night commuters and passersby near Sagar Pokhara area.
"We had information about their misdemeanor and hence laid a trap for them which resulted in their arrest in drunken conditions," said the superintendent of police.
"Those arrested were subjected to breath analyser test, which revealed that they were under influence of liquor," the SP added.
Those arrested have been identified as Babloo Kumar, Sipin Kumar Yadav and Suryakant Nirala - all constables....
