Policeman injured in attack in Patna
PATNA, June 30 -- A constable of Dial 112 was injured after a youth attacked him when the police were sorting out an issue at Exhibition Road under Gandhi Maidan police station on Sunday.
Police said the Dial 112 team reached Exhibition Road to sort out a domestic issue in a family. The incident took place after Sibten Raja (25), said to be a mentally ill youth, clashed with his father Mohammad Shahzad Khan who had called the Dial 112.
Police said as the cops arrived, accused Raja lost his temper and attacked the police team, in which constable Sanjay Kumar Mandal was injured. "Mandal told media persons that Raja attacked him and pushed him on the ground. He also tore his uniform and broke his spectacles when he tried to stop the fight," a police official said.
Dial 112 policemen immediately flashed the message on the wireless and within no time several policemen from Gandhi Maidan, Kotwali and Kadamkuan police stations reached the spot. They caught the accused.
Shahzad Khah told police that his son was getting treatment for mental illness. He could not sleep properly for five days, he added.
"The incident occurred when we are planning to visit Biharsharif Mazar. When the car driver reached late, his son entered into alteration," said Khan.
SHO Gandh Maidan police station Rajesh Kumar said the injured cop was admitted to the hospital. The police were looking into the matter, he added.
Two persons were injured after assailants opened fire at them over a dispute between children at Juiharpur village under Gaurichak police station on Sunday morning. The injured were admitted to NMCH for treatment, police said.
Police said the incident took place around 6.30am when a group of criminals clashed over a dispute between children, in which one group fired heavily on the other group in which two persons received bullet injuries. Both the seriously injured were rushed to the hospital. They were said to be out of danger. One youth had been shot in the leg while the other youth was shot near the leg and nose.
SDPO-2, Patna Sadar, Satyam Kumar said SHO of Gaurichak police station received an information around 7:30am that two persons were injured after criminals opened fire at them at Juiharpur village. The police team soon reached the spot and sent the injured Shree Prakash and Aditya to the hospital. Raids were on to arrest those involved in the incident, he added....
