Police solve Mantu murder case, five arrested with arms
PATNA, June 16 -- Patna police on Sunday solved the murder case of Mantu Rai with the arrest of five criminals and recovered pistols, cartridges and others from their possession.
Mantu was shot dead by a group of criminals at Dulhi ghat under Kahjekalan police station on May 18 nights.
The outgoing SSP , Awkash Kumar said that the police formed a special team to crack the case and arrest the criminals involved in the murder of Mantu, during a presser.
"Due to police pressure, one accused Manish Kumar alias Titik surrendered before the court on May 29. However, the police took Manish on remand and he revealed the name of other criminals involved in the case. The police raided many areas of Patna and arrested Ayush Kumar, Rajan Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Chotu alias Rohit and Aniket alias Golu. The police also recovered two pistols, five live cartridges, two motorcycles, and two cell phones used in the crime," he added.
The outgoing Patna SSP, Awkash Kumar , who has been transferred to BMP-1, Patna on Saturday , was addressing media persons at his office while solving the murder case of Mantu Rai under Khajekalan police station in Patna City last month.In replace of Awkash Kumar, now Purnia SP, Kartikeya Sharma will be the new SSP of Patna, who takes charge on Monday.
Kumar, who had a tenure of five months as SSP, Patna, said police had done 90% detection in cases of robbery and dacoity in five months. "June month is not over yet. There has been a decline in the figures of murder, robbery, dacoity and extortion as compared to year 22 to year 24. His tenure was of 5 months till 14 June."
The outgoing SSP also said that transfers were part of the job and thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for having given him the responsibility of serving as SSP, Patna....
