PATNA, Sept. 13 -- In a major boost to development in poll-bound Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs.36,000 crore at Purnea on September 15 during his brief visit to Bihar. The PM will also flag off four new trains including a Vande Bharat and two Amrit Bharat express trains from Chheharta (Amritsar) -- Saharsa and Erode-Jogbani, close to the Nepal border. This is besides the inauguration of the Purnea airport and the launch of the National Makhana Board. According to officials aware of the itinerary , the PM will inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport at 2:45pm. Then, he will lay the foundation stones and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs.36,000 crore, address the gathering, and launch the National Makhana Board. The Board will promote production and new technology development, strengthen post-harvest management, promote value addition and processing and facilitate market, export and brand development in Makhana, thereby benefiting the Makhana farmers of Bihar and the country. Bihar accounts for approximately 90% of the country's total Makhana production. Key districts like Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj and Araria serve as the primary hubs. The PM will lay the foundation stone of a 3x800 MW thermal power project at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur. It will be Bihar's largest private sector investment worth Rs.25,000 crore. It has been designed on ultra-super critical, low-emission technology. The project will provide dedicated power and strengthen Bihar's energy security. He will lay the foundation stone of Phase 1 of Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project worth over Rs.2,680 crore. In line with his commitment to improve rail connectivity, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of rail projects and flag off multiple trains in Bihar. Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Rail Line between Bikramshila and Katareah with a budget over Rs.2,170 crore, providing direct rail link across the river Ganga. It will provide a direct rail link across the Ganga significantly benefitting people in the region. He will inaugurate the new Rail Line between Arariya - Galgalia (Thakurganj) worth over Rs.4,410 crore. The Prime Minister will flag off trains in Araria-Galgalia (Thakurganj) Section which establishes direct rail connectivity between Araria and Kishanganj districts, significantly improving access across Northeastern Bihar. The PM will also inaugurate the Sex Sorted Semen Facility at Purnea. It is a state-of-the-art semen station under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, capable of producing 5 lakh sex-sorted semen doses annually. The facility, first of its kind in eastern and north-eastern India, uses indigenously developed technology. By enabling higher chances of female calf births, the technology will help small, marginal farmers and landless labourers secure more replacement heifers, reduce economic stress, and raise incomes through improved dairy productivity. The PM will also participate in Griha Pravesh ceremonies being held for 35,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY (R) and 5,920 urban beneficiaries under PMAY (U) and hand over keys to a few beneficiaries besides distribute Community Investment Funds of around Rs.500 crore to Cluster Level Federations under DAY-NRLM in Bihar and hand over cheques to a few CLF Presidents. According to the Railway Board, the Amrit Bharat Express will run from Erode on Thursdays and from Jogbani on Sundays, with halts at Khagaria, Begusarai, Sonepur, Danapur, Vindhyacahl, Maihar, Nagpur, Jabalpur and Katpadi. On the other hand, the Saharsa to Chheharta Amrit Bharat Express will run via Supaul, Saraigarh, Jhanjharpur, Sitamarhi, Raxaul, Narkatiyaganj, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, and Ambala Cantt. "The Katihar-Siliguri-Katihar Express train (15701/15702) will run on all days of the week. The Vande Bharat Express train (26301/26302) is going to start between Danapur to Jogbani," said ECR CPRO Saraswati Chandra. With the introduction of this train, people associated with the Seemanchal and Nepal border will get a fast and comfortable journey. Earlier on Wednesday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the PM Narendra Modi approved the doubling of Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single railway line Section (177 km) in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal with total cost of Rs.3,169 crore. This project also provides rail connectivity to prominent destinations such as Deoghar (Baba Baidyanath Dham), Tarapith (Shakti Peeth) attracting pilgrims and tourists from across the country. The Multi-tracking projects will also enhance connectivity to 441 villages and about 28.72 lakh population of three aspirational districts -- Banka, Godda and Dumka. The enhanced line capacity will improve mobility, providing enhanced efficiency and service reliability for Indian Railways. The multi-tracking proposal will ease operations and reduce congestion, providing the much-required infrastructural development on the busiest sections across Indian Railways.
