PATNA, May 23 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Thawe and Pirpainti railway stations in Bihar, as part of a nationwide initiative to upgrade 103 railway stations under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme'. The inauguration was conducted via video conferencing from Bikaner, Rajasthan. The two stations-Thawe in Gopalganj and Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district-serve as vital transport hubs for their respective regions. While Thawe is a key link for passengers travelling to and from northern Bihar, Pirpainti connects the eastern parts of Bihar with West Bengal. Highlighting the cultural integration in the station redesigns, PM Modi cited examples such as Mandalgarh station in Rajasthan, which reflects Rajput heritage, and Thawe station in Bihar, which showcases the sacred presence of Maa Thawewali and features traditional Madhubani artwork. The upgraded stations focus on enhancing passenger convenience and safety. Key features include elevated concourses, wider entry and exit points, modern ticketing systems, spacious waiting areas, accessible platforms, and upgraded sanitation facilities. These developments aim to ensure smoother passenger movement and reduced congestion during peak hours. Pirpainti station has undergone a complete transformation at a cost of Rs.18.93 crore.
