PM Modi chairs security meet; rajnath, nsa doval attend
new delhi, May 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired a meeting with top officials to review developments along the western border, hours after the IAF struck eight military sites in Pakistan - including radar units and ammunition dumps - using air-launched precision weapons.
The meeting was attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh, national security adviser Ajit Doval, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan and the three service chief officials. Earlier, Chauhan had briefed Singh on the security situation.
Modi had met the top officials on Friday too to review how Operation Sindoor - India's direct military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror strike - was unfolding.
The conflict intensified with the armed forces responding proportionately and adequately to Pakistani attempts to target Indian installations on the intervening night of May 8 and 9.
Pakistan violated Indian airspace to target the military installations, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said at a briefing.She said Pakistan sent 300-400 drones in 36 locations from Leh to Sir Creek to target Indian military installations. The drones were shot down by the Indian military.Earlier in the day, Modi held interactions with veterans, including former chiefs of the three services, taking their feedback on the current situation.
Saturday's night-long developments marked the fiercest clash between the two militaries since India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 when the Indian armed forces conducted strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. htc...
