Petition filed in Patna HC over 'anomalies' in Agiaon reserved seat election
ARA, Jan. 7 -- CPI(ML) candidate Shivprakash Ranjan has filed a petition in the Patna high court, alleging serious irregularities in the 195-Agiaon (SC) assembly constituency election that Ranjan had lost by merely 95 votes, one of the lowest defeat margins in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls.
The petition alleges widespread and egregious irregularities occurred in the election that caused Ranjan's 95-vote defeat. He explained that several incidents and alleged corrupt practices came to light before and after the announcement of the election process, severely undermining the possibility of a free and fair election.
He alleged that a large number of voters' names were removed from the electoral roll during the special intensive revision (SIR) drive. In his petition, Ranjan also stated that the ruling NDA alliance announced schemes involving direct cash transfers just before the election, and money was deposited into voters' accounts before polling, which was a clear violation of the poll codes....
