PESU holds camps to sensitise consumers on govt's power sop
PATNA, July 25 -- The Patna Electricity Supply Undertaking (PESU), which supplies power to urban areas of the state capital, will hold public awareness and sensitisation camps at 51 locations on Friday to dispel myths a consumer may have about the 125 units of free power to all categories of domestic consumers in the state from their energy bills of July, said officials on Thursday.
As a pre-poll sop, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had on July 17 announced that those consuming up to 125 units of electricity in a month will not have to pay anything, including energy charge, fixed charge and electricity duty.
However, even a single unit above the free threshold limit of 125 units, will attract energy charge at subsidised rate of Rs 5.52 per unit, electricity duty at the rate of 6% of the energy charge above 125 units, and a fixed charge of 75% of the sanctioned load or maximum demand recorded in a month, whichever is higher, at the rate of Rs 80 per kilo-watt (kW) of the sanctioned load, in case of domestic urban consumers, said officials.
