PATNA, Nov. 5 -- In view of the assembly election in Patna on November 6, Patna police on Tuesday raided several places at Bihta, Naubatpur, Maner and Danapur and recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons, several live cartridges, huge cash and other objectionable items. City superintendent of police (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said that the police launched a drive and conducted raids at various places and recovered weapons, cash and others. "Three people were arrested in the raids. The police have recovered 8 illegal weapons, 58 live cartridges, one magazine, one mobile, seven ATM cards, and Rs.24 lakh in cash," he added. He said that the police seized 10 live cartridges, Rs.22 lakh in cash and arrested a person from Vishupur area under Bihta police station. "Three rifles were recovered after arresting a man from Naubatpur area and cash Rs.1,42 lakh and four live cartridges were also seized," police said. Police said that the raid was conducted near Sultanpur Shanichara and they recovered one country-made pistol, 40 live cartridges, one mobile, and seven ATM cards. The police suspect that these items and the cash were kept for illegal use during the elections.
