PATNA, June 2 -- Unidentified armed criminals robbed cash and valuables worth Rs.20 lakh from the house of a retired government employee at Ghurdaud Road under Rajivnagar police station in the wee hours of Sunday. No arrests have been made so far. Police said a gang of six armed robbers stormed the residence of the retired irrigation department accountant after they held the elderly couple hostage and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs.20 lakh. The incident occurred between 2am and 3am at Abhyudaya Nagar. The criminals broke in through a rear window and held 75-yr-old Ramavatar Singh and his 67-yr-old wife Kamala Kumari, a retired government teacher, at gunpoint during the loot, he added. Kamala Kumari told police that the miscreants threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm. They asked them to part with a supposed land sale money of Rs.85 lakh, allegedly tipped off by a neighbour. Despite her denials, the gang searched the house and found Rs.6 lakh in cash and jewellery estimated at Rs.14 lakh and escaped, she added....
