India, Oct. 4 -- Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been a revolutionary name in Indian cricket, known for his knack for hitting sixes during crucial matches. Since retiring from the game, Yuvraj has turned to mentoring young talent, and the results are already showing. One of the brightest products of his guidance is 25-year-old Abhishek Sharma. The left-handed opener has captured attention with his aggressive batting and emerged as a match-winner for India in the recently concluded Asia Cup.
Appearing on actor and presenter Gaurav Kapur's YouTube show recently, Abhishek opened up about the pivotal role Yuvraj has played in shaping his career. "While on a flight, I had asked him if we could have a camp for a few days, and he agreed right away. I was struggling at that time, honestly. I am very grateful to him," he said.
Reflecting on how Yuvraj helped shift his mindset, Abhishek shared: "I started feeling that I was behind, as others from my age group were doing well already. But (Yuvraj) paaji told me straight away, 'I am preparing you to win games for India. Write this down; it will happen in the next two or three years.'"
