PATNA, July 13 -- The coordination committee of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) headed by leader of the Opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday asked for an intensive campaign to mobilise people's support against the Election Commission of India's bid to "disenfranchise the marginalised sections". The panel is also likely to "tweak" draft manifesto for upcoming polls to reflect ground realities of Bihar. "The campaign sub-committee of the coalition has been asked for strategies to reach out to the maximum people from the district to block and panchayat levels. The meeting focused on the coalition's manifesto, seat-sharing and campaign plans, showcasing a united front against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), said a senior leader of the Congress party, who is also a member of the coordination committee. The meeting was held at RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav's residence at 1 Polo Road, which was attended by leaders from the Congress, left parties and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Alliance leaders said that the coordination committee deliberated extensively on a draft manifesto, emphasising youth, women, unemployment, education, and social justice. The subcommittee presented a draft tailored to resonate with Bihar's electorate, with the final document set to be unveiled soon, focusing on inclusive development. The coalition expressed its serious concerns over the ECI's special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists, accusing the NDA government and commission of demanding citizenship proof to disenfranchise marginalized communities. RJD MP Abhay Kushwaha stated, "Voters submit forms but get no receipt. If the commission claims non-submission, what options do they have? Bihar's people are in the dark." The alliance vowed to unitedly fight this challenge to protect voter rights. RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav brushed aside discord over leadership issues in Bihar's INDIA bloc. He said, "All parties accept Tejashwi Yadav's leadership. The alliance operates with internal democracy, and there's no doubt about Tejashwi's role." Addressing the issues in seat-sharing, Congress leader Abhay Dubey said that there is no dispute over seat-sharing. "We are united. Negotiations for the 243 assembly seats are in advanced stages to ensure equitable distribution without internal conflicts," he added. The coalition outlined a robust grassroots campaign, including village-level outreach to highlight alleged voter suppression, unemployment, corruption, and rising crime under the Nitish Kumar-led NDA. The alliance plans to intensify an intensive campaign to expose the lack of vision in the NDA. "The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government has no vision, but Tejashwi's resolve is forcing them to respond," added Kushwaha, who is also a member of the coordination committee. VIP president Mukesh Sahni countered the NDA's promise of 100 units of free electricity, declaring, "If we form the government, we'll provide 200 units free." He criticized the timing of the voter list revision, stating, "This should've been done a year ago or after the elections. Every process has a proper way." Congress legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said that the manifesto sub-committee has been asked to tweak the draft manifesto so that aspirations of the youth, women and the underprivileged are given priority. "To strengthen its electoral machinery, the alliance resolved to activate coordination committees at district, block, and panchayat levels to enhance voter mobilization across Bihar," added Khan, adding that the coalition will launch joint rallies and public meetings in the coming weeks. The INDIA bloc aims to capitalise on anti-incumbency against the NDA's nearly two-decade rule, highlighting issues like inflation, lack of industrial growth and rising crime.
