ARA, July 15 -- A person died due to bullet injuries in firing by one of the cops of excise department team which had gone to ward No. 3 of Shahpur nagar panchayat of Bhojpur district to raid a house of a person allegedly involved in illegal liquor business. The SAP jawan, police said, fired in self defence after the team was attacked with stones and bricks. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Sushil Yadav, a resident of Nagar panchayat ward No. 3. The angry family members and villagers blocked the road by placing the body on the road near Shahpur police station crossing on Ara-Buxar Road for hours due to which traffic was disrupted. Locals made hostage SAP jawan Arvind Kumar too who had fired on villagers. He could be released after six hours only after intervention of higher administrative and police officials. The villagers started attacking the excise department team with stones as soon as they reached the village. After this an atmosphere of chaos prevailed. Seeing the law and order situation going out of control, the police started firing in self-defence, in which a local died. Kiran Kumari, daughter of victim cried that 20 days earlier, her mother died due to illness and now her father too was gone. Bhojpur SP Raj said a raid was being conducted by the excise department team against illegal liquor in Ward No. 03 under Shahpur police station. During this, the local people protested due to which the situation became tense. In the same sequence, a SAP jawan deputed on duty with the excise department opened fire in self defence in which one person died. As soon as the information was received, the sub-divisional officer (SDO) , sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) and the police team of Shahpur Police Station reached the spot and controlled the situation. SHO of Shahpur police station Kumar Rajnikant said that Kamla Devi, mother of victim Sushil Yadav has lodged FIR against excise department cop Arvind Kumar and team of excise under section of murder and other sections....
