Nomads, cattle washed away in flooded Falgu in Gaya Ji district; 18 rescued
GAYA JI, June 20 -- Several nomads sleeping under the four-lane bridge over the Falgu river in Gaya Ji, along with their families and cattle, were swept away in the early hours of Thursday as the water level rose suddenly due to heavy and intermittent rainfall over the past two days.
According to police, the nomadic families had arrived in Gaya Ji a few days ago and were sheltering under the bridge near Panchdham Ghat in Manpur under the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station. Around 3 am, strong currents trapped them between the bridge pillars following a flash flood in the river. Their screams for help alerted local residents, who immediately informed the police.
Local divers began rescue operations, soon joined by police personnel and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams....
