Rudrapur, Nov. 9 -- In a move aimed at curbing noise pollution and easing traffic congestion, the Haldwani Band Association has decided that its members will not play instruments in wedding processions after 10 pm. The decision, which will take effect from November 16, also seeks to support the administration in maintaining law and order during the ongoing wedding season. The association's president, Ushan Hussain, said on Saturday, "We have decided not to play bands after 10pm in the city. Our members will now perform only between 5pm and 10pm. We have also requested the police to take action against any bands that violate this decision." There are around 35 registered bands in Haldwani, each comprising 10 to 25 members. According to Hussain, band players often had to perform late into the night during wedding processions, leading to physical exhaustion. "Earlier, we had to accompany the groom's procession from his house to the venue and wait till the farewell ceremony. The new schedule will bring some relief for band members, " he said....
