Nitish, Lalan hold closed-door meet
PATNA, Nov. 12 -- CM Nitish Kumar, who addressed over 70 election rallies during the two-phase assembly polls in the state, made a surprise visit to the JD(U) office in Patna on Tuesday, accompanied by his minister Vijay Choudhary.
He also held a closed-door meeting with key party leader Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh at his residence, leading to various interpretations.
Kumar, who during the campaigning travelled long distances by road when the weather did not allow choppers to fly to demonstrate his fitness even at his age and speculations about his health, suddenly arrived to meet Singh that observers read as being related to post-poll situation that would begin to take shape with exit polls predicting results.
Singh has been with Nitish since the party's inception. Therefore, the 15-20 minute meeting on voting day is thought to be crucial. Some party leaders indicated that the two deliberated upon how the situation arising out of the outcome of the results might be tackled. Earlier on Tuesday morning, Kumar said in a social media post, "In this grand festival of democracy, maximum voters came out to cast their votes. Even after the first phase of elections, people expressed happiness. The voter turnout has increased significantly. Women's participation has increased significantly."
Sharing the information on X, the JD(U) wrote, "Every step is of trust, every step is of development. Chief minister Nitish Kumar visited the state office, where he met with senior leaders and workers and inquired about their well-being."
Choudhary later told the media, "The CM himself has arrived at the JD(U) office to assess the situation. The information we're receiving from party workers is satisfactory. Voting is in favour of the NDA in every area, and there's considerable enthusiasm among the people. Like the first phase, the second phase also saw record voter turnout. This enthusiasm reflects the people of Bihar's confidence in development and good governance."...
