ARAI, Dec. 8 -- In the early hours of Sunday morning, armed assailants allegedly entered a house in Agiaon Bazar village, under the jurisdiction of the same police station, and shot dead a newlywed woman, police confirmed. The 20-year-old was shot in the head, causing her death on the spot. Upon receiving information, SHO of Agiaon Bazar PS Shailesh Kumar arrived at the scene and called the FSL team. Police then took the body into custody and got a postmortem examination conducted at Ara Sadar hospital. The victim was identified as Nirasha Kumari alias Durgavati Kumari, wife of Mani Kumar, of Agiaon Bazar. The victim's father-in-law, Chakravarti Gupta, said his son married Nirasha on June 4 this year. At the time of the wedding, he had borrowed Rs.1lakh from Chintu Rai of Tilath village. He had returned Rs.80,000 and owed him Rs.35,000 more as principal and interest. Five days earlier, Chintu had called his wife and had used abusive language, threatening to abduct his daughter-in-law and kill his son, Gupta said.
