New home min takes charge, vows tough policy on crime
PATNA, Nov. 23 -- A day after the allocation of portfolios of NDA ministers in Bihar, several ministers including new home minister Samrat Chowdhary took charge of the department with BJP and JD(U) leaders supporting the move of the chief minister Nitish Kumar to cede the department.
"Rule of law is our priority and CM Nitish Kumar has trusted the BJP for this department. We will ensure that rule of law is established in the state," said state BJP president and industry minister Dilip Jaiswal. "The department allocations were completed on Friday and the distribution is commendable. The shared goal is to effectively implement the targets and policies set by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the welfare of Bihar's people. JD(U) leaders said that the power to look after bureaucracy, their transfer and postings remain in the hand of the chief minister.

There will always be good governance under Nitish Kumar's guidance. Bihar's good governance has always eliminated lawlessness here," said Chowdhary on Saturday. "Bihar has a government of good governance. A system is already in place. This system has eliminated crime and jungle raj. This system will be fully established.
