NDA leaders hail landslide victory, Opposition reflects on big setback
PATNA, Nov. 15 -- Top leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) expressed jubilation and gratitude, crediting unity and public trust for the landslide triumph, while opposition figures acknowledged the unexpected drubbing and vowed to introspect.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) was among the first to react, sharing his thoughts on social media platform X. In a heartfelt post, Kumar bowed in reverence to the voters, stating, "In the Bihar Assembly Election-2025, the people of the state have expressed their trust in our government by giving us a massive majority. For this, I bow in reverence, extend heartfelt thanks, and express gratitude to all the respected voters of the state."
Kumar extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering support, emphasising the NDA's cohesive front. "I bow in reverence and extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the cooperation received from him. The NDA alliance has achieved a massive majority in this election by demonstrating complete unity. I also extend thanks and gratitude to all the allies of the NDA alliance-Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha -for this resounding victory," he added. Looking ahead, the CM pledged accelerated development for Bihar. "With everyone's cooperation, Bihar will progress further and will be included among the most developed states in the country," Kumar affirmed, signalling a renewed focus on growth under the NDA regime.
Echoing the celebratory tone, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan highlighted the alliance's united strength while taking a swipe at the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). "On one side, the entire Bihar is witnessing the united strength of the NDA, while on the other, look at the arrogance of the RJD-they are talking about taking oath on November 18 even before the full mandate has come in. This is what happens when ambition turns into arrogance," Paswan remarked. Drawing parallels to the 2020 assembly polls, Paswan defended his role and underscored the importance of NDA solidarity. "When fingers were being pointed at me and I was being held responsible for the NDA's defeat, I want to make it clear that at that time, the RJD did not win on its own strength; it only managed to grow because the NDA was divided. Had the NDA been united then, the RJD wouldn't have crossed even 25 seats," he said. Paswan further criticised the RJD's legacy, noting that the people of Bihar are well aware of those who symbolize "Jungle Raj" and their diminished public standing.
Union minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi attributed the victory to the electorate's faith in the NDA's vision for economic transformation. Thanking the voters for the decisive mandate, Manjhi said, "People trusted on the NDA's promise of developing Bihar as an industrial and trade hub.
People relied on the NDA's promise of setting up industrial corridors and industrial parks to facilitate huge investment. They rejected the misleading propaganda of the INDIA bloc leaders, which lacked credibility."
On the opposition side, former Bihar Congress chief and Rajya Sabha member Akhilesh Prasad Singh expressed dismay at the results, describing them as a significant blow. "The results are beyond comprehension, though it appeared to be a major setback for the coalition and the Congress party," Singh stated. He assured that the party would conduct a thorough analysis to understand the factors behind the defeat.
Mukesh Sahni, founder of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), accepted the election mandate with respect, congratulated NDA on its victory, and admitted the results were unexpected as ground reality appeared different. He announced a review of the outcome and vowed to return stronger to the people.
Sahni noted that voters stood with Nitish Kumar in his final election, influenced by the government's Rs.10,000 aid to women, and urged NDA to fulfill its poll promises.
The NDA's sweeping win marks a pivotal shift in Bihar's political landscape, potentially paving the way for ambitious reforms and infrastructure projects.
As the dust settles, all eyes are on how the alliance will deliver on its promises amid lingering opposition scrutiny....
