PATNA, Oct. 14 -- After days of intense meetings over seat sharing, the candidates' list of NDA parties, to be announced on Monday, was deferred for next 24 to 48 hours. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal announced that the names of candidates from all five NDA allies for the upcoming Bihar elections would be declared either on Tuesday or Wednesday. He also informed that home minister Amit Shah would be on a three-day visit to Bihar from October 16 to 18, to address multiple public meetings and review the party's election preparations. Jaiswal further said all NDA constituents would come together and file nominations jointly on October 16, 17, and 18. On Monday morning, JD (U) posted on X that the list was to be released around 4 pm but later the post was deleted. NDA leaders said the delay was mainly because of some negotiations going on between alliance partners on seats. "The numbers are final. Some seats are claimed by different partners," said the NDA leader. On Monday, JD(U) and BJP leaders held a meeting on seats and lists at JD (U) national working president Sanjay Jha's residence. The discussions centered around constituencies they planned to swap or give up in favour of smaller allies. One of the lists causing a glitch was Sheohar, which the JD(U) fought and won in the parliamentary elections, though the BJP had been representing it for past several terms. Sheohar JD(U) MP Lovely Anand's son Chetan Anand had won the assembly seat, in 2020, on an RJD ticket but had crossed over to the NDA last year when Nitish Kumar quit INDIA bloc and gravitated towards the NDA. In the evening BJP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan held discussions with senior party leaders. Though the names of the candidates are yet to be officially announced, according to reliable sources, the schedule of filing nominations for BJP leaders including two BJP deputy CM's, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, and a couple of others, have already been finalised. While Sinha would be contesting from Lakhisarai, from where he got elected in 2020, unconfirmed sources said Choudhary, an MLC, would be contesting from Tarapur and health minister Mangal Pandey from Siwan. The JD (U) also started allocating symbols from Monday evening. Those given party symbol include party state president Umesh Kushwaha, minister Sunil Kumar, Siddharth Patel, Anant Singh and Santosh Nirala. In the meantime, filing of nomination for 122 assembly seats, which will go to polls in second phase on November 11, began on Monday. The nomination can be filed till October 20, while last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 23. The nomination filing for the first phase ends on October 17....
