Narcotics smuggler arrested, heroin and Rs. 4.22L cash recovered
BHABUA, June 4 -- Kaimur police arrested a narcotics smuggler and seized 52 grams of heroin along with Rs.4.22 lakh in cash during a raid at Lalapur market under Kudra police station on Tuesday.
The arrested smuggler, identified as Raj Kumar alias Arvind Ram (22) of Lalapur market, revealed the names of the Mohania-based main supplier and other distributors and sellers involved in the racket, police said.
A case has been registered under sections 8(c), 21(b), and 27(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and police teams are conducting raids to dismantle the racket and arrest the peddlers, superintendent of police (SP) Hari Mohan Shukla said.
The raid, led by Mohania sub-divisional police officer Pradeep Kumar, also resulted in the recovery of an electronic weighing machine, wrapping papers, and smartphones.
According to police, Ram entered the narcotics trade at a young age and earned substantial profits from the hazardous business.
Anti-drug activist Satya Prakash Singh Patel of Bhabua noted that the flourishing heroin trade, once confined to towns, has now spread to villages in the district.
Most of the peddlers are aged between 20 and 25, lured into the illicit trade by dreams of quick wealth and expensive gadgets and vehicles.
