Najibabad-Haridwar bypass to be ready by year-end, says NHAI
Haridwar, Oct. 26 -- The much-awaited Najibabad-Haridwar bypass project, aimed at diverting vehicular traffic away from Haridwar's inner city limits, is expected to be completed by the end of this year, officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said on Saturday.
According to NHAI officials, the 11-km-long bypass will provide a direct link between western Uttar Pradesh and Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun, and further to the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, significantly easing traffic congestion and reducing travel time.
"The Najibabad bypass project is in its final phase and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Once operational, it will provide smoother connectivity between Najibabad and Haridwar, reducing both travel time and distance. By Sunday, repair work on a 2.2-km diversion stretch at Rasiabad on the Haridwar-Najibabad-Kashipur highway will also be completed. This diversion had been causing inconvenience to local commuters, pilgrims, and tourists due to ongoing construction," said NHAI project director S Sharma.
Haridwar district magistrate Mayur Dixit recently inspected the Rasiabad and adjoining Haridwar-Kashipur highway project sites, directing officials to ensure timely completion, maintain construction quality, and provide smooth diversion routes. Officials said the new bypass will reduce the distance between Najibabad and Haridwar to about 50 km, which will be covered in roughly 40 minutes once the highway becomes operational....
