New Delhi, July 14 -- President Droupadi Murmu has nominated Ujjwal Nikam, special public prosector in the 26/11 terror attack case; former foreign secretary Harsh Shringla; C Sadanandan Master, a schoolteacher from Kerala and historian Meenakshi Jain to the Rajya Sabha, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the nominations on social media platform X, writing: "Shri Ujjwal Nikam's devotion to the legal field and to our Constitution is exemplary." Modi further said that Shringla's experience in diplomacy would enrich Parliamentary proceedings. On Jain, he wrote that her work in education, literature, history, and political science has significantly contributed to academic discourse. Referring to Master, Modi said his life is "the epitome of courage and refusal to bow to injustice" and that "violence and intimidation could not deter his spirit towards national development." The nominated members will have a fixed term of six years. The members are appointed by the President on the recommendation by the Union government.
