Murder accused injured in police encounter in Bihar's Gaya Ji
GAYA JI, May 20 -- Main accused of the father-son double murder case, Nitish Kumar (30) was critically injured during an encounter with Gaya Ji police near Tel Bigha railway station under Fatehpur police station late Sunday night, police said on Monday.
The accused, with three bullet injuries on his thigh and leg, was admitted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital at Gaya Ji in critical condition. Doctors took out the bullets and he was out of danger, police said.
Wazirganj sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Sunil Kumar Pandey said Nitish had shot dead his uncle Ashok Singh (60) and his only son Kunal Singh (30) at Dakhingaon village under Wazirganj police station on Saturday afternoon. Preliminary investigations suggested that a land dispute was behind the double murder.
Ashok Singh's wife had died a few days back and his unmarried son Kunal, studying in Delhi, had come home. His only daughter Banti Kumari was already married. Now, there were no male or female members in the family, police said, adding, Banti registered a murder case against Nitish, his brother Ankit Kumar, father Akhilesh Kumar Singh and mother Nitu Devi.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar formed an SIT under Wazirganj SDPO and accused Akhilesh Kumar was arrested from Jamuawan village the same night.
On a tip off about the presence of main accused Nitish Kumar at Tel Bigha railway station for boarding a train to flee to some distant place, a police team led by Wazirganj SHO Venkateshwar Ojha, rushed to the place in the night.
The accused opened fire on police and was injured in retaliatory firing. A country-made pistol, two live and several fired rounds were recovered from him. Raids were on to arrest the rest of the accused, SDPO Pandey said....
