Mukhiya held for taking bribe in Sitamarhi dist
PATNA, March 11 -- The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Tuesday arrested a Mukhiya in Sitamarhi district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.16,000, officials said.
The arrested Mukhiya has been identified as Awadhesh Sah of Kaudia Lalpur Panchayat.
According to the complaint lodged by Ajay Kumar of Kodniya village under Runnisaidpur police station, the Mukhiya demanded a bribe after disbursing the honorarium of four caretakers under the tap water scheme and in exchange for releasing the next installment.
The VIB verified the complaint and found prima facie evidence of the bribe demand. A case was registered, and an investigation team was formed under Shiv Kumar Sah, deputy superintendent of police, VIB, Patna.
Acting on the complaint, the vigilance team arrested Awadhesh Sah near Shiv Raj Restaurant, adjacent to the Durga Temple in Sitamarhi, while he was accepting the bribe. The accused will be produced before the Special Court of Vigilance, Muzaffarpur, and further investigation is underway.....
