Mother, daughter come under train's wheels, lose life
BUXAR, July 4 -- A woman and her two-year-old daughter died after coming under the wheels of a train while alighting at Raghunathpur railway station on the Ara-Buxar rail route, police said.
The victims were identified as 25-year-old Priyanka Devi and her daughter, residents of Baruha village under Dawath police station in Rohtas district.
According to police, the two had gone to Buxar to take a holy dip in the Ganges. After bathing, they were likely headed to visit the famous Shiva temple at Brahmpur. While getting down from the 63234 Down Passenger Train at Raghunathpur, they reportedly lost balance and slipped under the moving train, resulting in their death.
A family member accompanying them was present at the time of the incident.
Bijendra Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Buxar GRP, confirmed the incident and said that the bodies have been sent to Buxar Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
In a separate incident, a woman allegedly killed her mother-in-law following a minor dispute in Kori village under Sandesh police station limits.
The quarrel reportedly began over the use of an iron ladder.
The accused, Nilam Devi, allegedly hit her 70-year-old mother-in-law, Malti Devi, with a stone, killing her on the spot.
Malti Devi was the wife of late Ramdeo Prasad.
The incident has shocked the villagers, who said the two often fought over trivial household matters, but never expected such violence.
SHO Santosh Kumar Singh of Sandesh police station confirmed the incident and said the accused has been arrested....
