PATNA, Oct. 31 -- Gangster-turned-politician Dular Chand Yadav, once known for rubbing shoulders with the who's who of politics in Bihar, was allegedly shot dead in Mokama, near the state capital during an election campaign for Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi on Thursday, police said. Mokama is merely 100-km away from state capital Patna. Two other strongmen and rivals of Mokama, Anant Singh and Surajbhaan Singh, are locked in contest from different parties (one via his wife). Yadav himself has been involved with political and gang rivalry with other strongmen of the area. According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma, "We received information that a supporter of a candidate died during the campaign in the Mokama Taal area. The exact cause of the incident is not known yet, as the body has not been handed over to the police. Allegations are being levelled that the deceased was shot dead by supporters of his opponent's party.
