MOKAMA, Nov. 7 -- Against the backdrop of the Dularchand Yadav murder case and former MLA Anant Singh's imprisonment, heavy security arrangements were put in place in Mokama. Police and paramilitary forces were deployed at all polling stations, turning the area into a security zone. Hindustan Times stayed for about an hour in Taratar village, native place of Dularchand. There were three booths at the school built in the fields along a one-lane road. There was a long queue of voters at all three booths. Around 12:24, more than 40 per cent of votes had been cast . At one booth, the voting percentage had reached 46 per cent. Voters said they were not voting based on any calculations. It was already decided. The main voters in Taratar are from Yadav and Dhanuk castes. After Dularchand's murder, polarisation has become more evident. The equations were not clearly defined in Taratar, but it was found that there was no polling agent from NDA at the three booths. Agents from RJD and Jan Suraaj were present. When asked, they said - no one came at all. There was a long queue of women in Taratar. An elderly woman said they would not give it to anyone who didn't work. Several migrant voters were seen standing in queues to cast their vote. Many voters said development and employment were key issues influencing their decision.
