Haridwar, Nov. 16 -- In three years since the launch of the specialised mobile veterinary units, the on-wheels service has provided medical treatment to more than 3.63 lakh sick and injured animals, officials overseeing the service said on Saturday. Launched on November 16, 2022, the fleet of 60 mobile veterinary ambulances has treated 3,63,670 animals across six districts of Kumaon and seven districts of Garhwal till November 14, 2025. According to data from its Dehradun-based control centre, the total number of animals treated includes 1,85,271 cattle, 31,114 buffaloes, 1,01,566 goats, 10,408 horses, 3,871 sheep, 20,332 dogs, and 11,108 animals of other categories. The service can be used by farmers, cattle breeders and livestock owners by dialling the toll-free helpline 1962. Ashish Negi, the state in-charge of the service, said the service has been a "boon" for livestock farmers, as it brings veterinary care directly to their doorstep. htc...
