PATNA, Aug. 26 -- An angry mob that was blocking the Atal Path on the Digha side in Patna on Monday damaged several vehicles, including one from the cavalcade of Health Minister Mangal Pandey who was passing through the route and was caught in the crosshairs of the mob fury. People were protesting against the police inaction in solving the mysterious killing of two minor siblings in Patna on August 15. According to police officers aware of the development late on Monday, two vehicles were torched and 15 damaged, while several police officers were injured while controlling the agitating people. IG central range Jitendra Rana said that over half a dozen "trouble-makers" were taken into custody and many of the protesters identified through CCTV footage. "Strict action will be taken against the miscreants who have taken law into their hands," he said. s According to people who were protesting, a brother and sister were found dead on August 15 in mysterious circumstances. The siblings were found dead at Road No. 12 in Indrapuri locality under Patliputra police station. Even after 12 days of the incident, police have been unale make any headway in the probe, and no arrests have been made so far. The victims' family members alleged that the police were trying to hush up the matter and they along with a number of their supporters blocked Atal Path in protest, demanding immediate arrests.Police officers from several stations, along with anti-riot vehicles, rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Even four days ago, the family had staged a similar protest at Atal Path, pressing for the arrest of those involved in killing of siblings. On August 15, siblings, aged 7 and 5, children of Ganesh Kumar of Indrapuri, had left their house in the afternoon for tuition but did not return. Later, with the help of locals, the family found them dead inside a car parked on a vacant plot barely 200 metres from their house.
