Missing youths' skeletons found in Arwal
PATNA, Sept. 3 -- The skeletons of two men who had gone missing from their village 15 days ago were recovered from bushes near Ojha-Bigha village under Sadar police station limits in Bihar's Arwal district, police said on Tuesday.
Family members of the missing men were brought to the spot, where they reportedly identified the clothing and bracelet found with the remains. Police said the victims were identified as Rahul Kumar Chandravanshi (25) and Dasrath Kumar. Their skeletons, along with the clothes and bracelet, have been sent for postmortem and forensic examination to confirm their identities and establish the cause of death.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kriti Kamal said Rahul and Dasrath had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on August 18. A missing complaint was lodged on August 22, but searches yielded no leads until the recovery.
Rahul's uncle, Gunjan Kumar, said his nephew had earlier worked in Gujarat but returned home during Durga Puja last year. "He never went back. His mother alleged that two villagers regularly harassed him over a mobile theft accusation, but my son could never have stolen their phone," she said.
DSP Kamal added, "We received information that two youths were killed and their half-burnt bodies dumped outside the village. After recovery, one family identified the remains from clothing while another claimed them based on a bracelet. At least five suspects have been detained, and further investigation is underway. A DNA test will confirm the identities."
The gruesome discovery has plunged the village into grief and fear, with additional police personnel deployed in the area to maintain order.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Muzaffarpur police recovered the body of a four-year-old girl from bushes in Gannipur Bejha village under Sakra police station on Tuesday. Police said the child had been missing since Monday noon. Injuries were found on her body.
"The matter is being probed from all angles. The exact cause of death will be known only after the autopsy report," said Sakra SDPO Manoj Kumar Singh....
