SASARAM, June 24 -- Panic spread at an exhibition organised near Pilot Baba Ashram under Sasaram Mufassil police station area on Sunday night and people started screaming and fleeing when more than six youths reached the fair and opened fire, police said Monday.
Fortunately, no one was hurt as the aim of the firing was to create panic and establish their supremacy, police added.
The incident occurred at 9.15 pm when there was a huge crowd of women and children in the fair due to Sunday. The fair staff asked the youths to buy tickets and refused to let them go inside without tickets. On this, the youths got angry, indulged in fight with the staff and eventually started firing.
On receiving information, Rohtas SP Raushan Kumar immediately sent police from three police stations under a DSP rank officer. But the miscreants had fled before police reached.
A case was registered under related sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act on the application of the fair manager and three accused were identified and arrested the same night with the help of CCTV footage, electronic surveillance and ground intelligence, the SP said.
The arrested youths revealed the name of their other three associates. Police were conducting raids to arrest them and to recover the weapons used in the firing. Security arrangements had been increased in the fair area, the SP said....
