DARBHANGA, May 13 -- In a daring daylight robbery on Monday, unidentified criminals looted Rs.3 lakh from two grocery traders in a moving auto rickshaw near the FCI godown in Darbhanga, police said. The incident occurred around 10.20am despite regular traffic on the busy stretch, leaving onlookers and commuters shocked. Victims Rajkumar and Sujit-uncle and nephew-are grocery businessmen from Ghoghardiha in Madhubani district. After arriving at Darbhanga railway station by train, they had boarded an auto rickshaw en route to the local market for business-related purchases. According to police sources, two assailants on a motorcycle intercepted the auto near the FCI godown. They forcefully stopped the vehicle and assaulted the driver. As panic spread, other passengers fled the scene. The assailants then got better of the traders, hitting them with the butt of a pistol, and made away with a bag containing Rs.3 lakh in cash, the victims claimed. Both victims sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. SDPO Amit Kumar said police teams were conducting raids to apprehend the culprits. "Nearby CCTV footage is being examined to identify the accused. We are hopeful of making arrests soon," he added....
