Minor girl dies in celebratory firing during birthday party in Bihar
PATNA, May 19 -- A minor girl identified Riya Kumari (10) was killed during a celebratory firing at a birthday party at Jamunapur village under Panchrukhiya police station in Patna late on Saturday night. The girl succumbed to her injuries at NMCH, police said.
"The incident took place late Saturday night at Jamunapur under Panchrukhiya police station area. Soon after the incident, police reached the spot and arrested accused Akhilesh Ram, a resident of Sangat village under the same police station, " Sadar SDPO Abhinav Kumar said.
Kumar said the girl, along with her family members, had gone to attend a birthday party where a bullet hit her in the head during the celebratory firing. She was immediately taken to NMCH where doctors declared her dead. After this, the family informed the police.
The SDPO said police recovered two country-made pistols and six bullets from the accused.
In a separate incident, an auto-rickshaw driver Shashi Kumar was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Dhanki Mor on Sunday morning. Agitated over the incident, locals blocked the road at Chai tola under Pirbahore police station and demanded arrest of those involved in the murder.
The incident took place around 5am when Shashi had parked his auto for some work. A group of assailants came close to Shashi and pumped three bullets into his body, killing him on the spot.
ASP, Patna City, A Jha said the cause of the incident was not clear.
"The police are scanning the CCTV footage to identify the killers," the senior official added,
In a third incident, assailants shot at Mohd Kaju (30), auto driver, and injured him at Kaimashikoh area under Chowk police station on Sunday morning.
SHO of Chowk police station Dushyant Singh said Kaju had been admitted to NMCH for treatment. "The cause of the incident is some dispute between the accused and the victim," he said....
