AURANGABAD, June 5 -- Bihar's Special Task Force (STF) and Aurangabad police in a joint operation on Wednesday foiled a Maoist plan to target security forces conducting search operations in the forests of Aurangabad district. The forces recovered four powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) - three cane IEDs and one pressure IED - all wired with live batteries and ready to detonate. The IEDs were hidden under stones in the forests between Chhakarbandha and Gobardhana hills under the jurisdiction of Dev police station, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Ambrish Rahul. Bihar STF, CRPF, and district police have been conducting continuous search operations in the Maoist-affected south Bihar region bordering Jharkhand. Acting on specific intelligence inputs about the movement of Maoist commander Akhilesh Singh Bhokta, who was allegedly planning an attack on the forces, police and STF personnel rushed to the forest area around Chhakarbandha, Gobardhana, and Shivsagar hills. Rain had washed away some soil, exposing a Codex wire beneath a stone. Alert jawans quickly informed their commanders, and bomb disposal experts safely destroyed the IEDs on the spot, averting the Maoist attack and ambush. The SP further said the Maoists in the region have been on the back foot due to sustained search operations. In recent months, several Maoist commanders and hard-core operatives have been arrested, with recoveries of arms, ammunition, and explosives. The operations, he said, will continue until the Naxalites are completely eliminated....
