Man posing as police officer held in Patna
PATNA, Sept. 9 -- Patna police on Monday arrested a fake IPS officer from Phulwarisharif area under the same police station and seized a laptop and cell phone.
Police said accused was identified as Alsam Ahmed of Haji Harman colony, Phulwarishariif, Patna. "Ahmed allegedly duped and threatened people after introducing himself as an ADG posted at police headquarters in Patna. He had e-mailed around 8 people including a government employee, to measure land in his surrounding areas," he added.
Police said the incident came to light after an amin lodged a case with Phulwarisharif police station.
"The police were continuously receiving complaints against the accused in connection with sending mails and threatening officials engaged in measuring land."
"Around 7 to 8 people, including a government employee, have been cheated after sending threat mails from fake e-mail id of adg.patna.gov@gmail.com. The fake IPS officer cheated people claiming himself as ADG posted at headquarters. The accused told the police that he used to send threat e-mails to amins to get the work of those people done, who had land disputes. He used to call posing as ADG and asked amins that if the work was not done, action would be taken against him," said City SP West, Bhanu Pratap Singh....
