Man held for raping minor in Gaya Ji: Police
GAYA JI, Aug. 20 -- A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Gaya Ji district on Monday evening, police said on Tuesday, adding the accused has been arrested.
Police further said that the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Banke Bazar police station of the district.
Following the incident, the girl was rushed to Community Health Centre at Banke Bazar but later shifted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
The girl had gone towards the hills to attend nature's call when a youth picked her up and took into bushes. He raped her and fled when the girl started crying, police said.
Finding that the Banke Bazar police are not taking the matter seriously, villagers reached the police station and protested.
Upon getting information, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sherghati, assistant SP Shailendra Singh reached the place and assured the agitating people of prompt action.
A case of rape has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and BNS based on a complaint from the victim's mother.
The accused was identified as Tunnu Shah, a resident of Dumraon village. Further probe is underway, police said....
