Man gets life term for murdering better half in Bihar's Darbhanga
DARBHANGA, Aug. 9 -- A local court sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on Friday for the murder of his wife under Sadar police station four years ago.
The court of district and additional sessions judge Aadi Dev delivered the verdict against Raman Kumar Choudhary alias Dabloo Choudhary, a resident of Bankers' Colony in Laxmisagar, for killing his wife Rinki Choudhary.
According to additional public prosecutor (APP) Dilip Kumar Sah, the incident occurred in the early hours of July 25, 2021.
The convict struck his wife, whom he had married 15 years earlier, on the head with a blunt agricultural tool (khanti), leading to her death on the spot.
It was the convict's sister who informed the victim's father, Nunu Choudhary of Imbrahimpur in Nehra police station area about the incident via mobile phone.
Following this, an FIR (316/21) was registered at Sadar PS. Charges were framed against the accused on April 11, 2022.
During the course of the trial, the prosecution presented nine witnesses, including the couple's two children - an 11-year-old daughter, and an 8-year-old son - who testified before the court. Based on the evidences and testimonies, the court convicted the husband of murder on July 31, 2025.
Public prosecutor Amrendra Narayan Jha stated that the Darbhanga judicial division, including civil courts at Darbhanga, Benipur, and Biraul, is actively identifying and fast-tracking all pending serious sessions cases in the region to ensure timely justice to the victims....
