Man arrested with 139 cartridges, say police
PATNA, Oct. 13 -- Patna police late Saturday night arrested a man carrying 139 cartridges, a cell phone, and Rs.1.5 lakh in cash.
Patna Central Superintendent of Police (SP) Diksha said a team from Shastrinagar police was conducting vehicle checks around 11 PM at Patel Nagar when a bike coming from Rajvanshi Nagar tried to evade them. "The rider attempted to escape, but our team chased and apprehended him. Upon frisking, we recovered 139 cartridges and Rs.1.5 lakh," she said.
The arrested man, identified as Sujit Kumar (50) of Patna City, could not provide satisfactory details or receipts for the cash and cartridges. Investigation revealed that he intended to supply the cartridges to another person.
Sujit has three cases of loot registered against him in Ranchi, Patrakar Nagar, and Gandhi Maidan, Patna.
Earlier on Saturday evening, police seized Rs.4 lakh during vehicle checks at NIT More under Pirbahore police station.
In a separate operation, the Special Task Force (STF) and Patna Police recovered an illegal firearm, 16 live cartridges, and a fake arms license during a raid at Keshav Palace in Shastri Nagar....
